Coach's Corner: FPD Part 2

41NBC's Bill Shanks continues his converstaion with FPD head coach Greg Moore in today's installment of Coach's Corner.

C1 3 b13 center intro stormcast greg moore, the head coach at fpd back for his 21st season and coach moore.

You've got six starters back on defense and we were talking on the earlier show about the need for some patchwork up front and they all fit some line of scrimmage.

The same could be said for the defense, i would imagine.

Yeah, no doubt.

And we lost some really good players up front.

Um, we knew return wheel cunningham will have a great year for us last year on the front, but we lost some seniors in defensive end and we lost some more seniors up on the front, alongside wheel.

And, um, we've got some rising juniors and seniors that we think are about ready to play there.

Uh, but they haven't done it.

Not a lot.

They've done a little bit.

And so i'm looking forward to seeing who's ready to play there for sure.

You got some linebackers, coleman cawley, graham meyer.

That, is that going to be one of your strengths on defense?

Well, you know, we can't always say that, but this year i think we can, we've got some kids there that can play, that can run, that can tackle that are aggressive, that understand what we're doing.

We've changed some things up a little bit on defense.

Um, but it's, it's all designed to get the kids playing a little more aggressive and a little, little more carefree and having a good time and not trying to, um, you know, bind them down too much.

So when you got linebackers that can run around and play, it makes that easier.

So coleman and graham and, uh, malone hudson jackson jones, micah henley, we had, there's a lot of kids there that are good football players and, uh, you know, you go outside with guys like barrett and, and uh, some of those other guys, i mean, we, we really feel really good about the second level where we are on defense.

We're probably still looking for a little bit of help in the secondary.

That's good.

And that's good.

All right.

Finally, coach, a few changes to the region with deerfield, winter and old nemesis from the gis days and also strong rock christian, or we know the macon schools are going to be tough, all those games.

What do you think about the region this year?

And the region will be really tough.

And, uh, i tell you what i do.

Like, you know, i'm, i don't know if i'm in the minority here or not, but i i'm glad we don't have power ranking anymore because now we can spend the first four, five, six games of the year getting ready for those region games.

And i think that's a big deal.

There's a lot to be said for getting ready to play region games without the pressure of, you know, when, who was it against, what's their record, all those sorts of things.

We really can concentrate now on getting ready to play region and we will need to do so because our region is some kind of good.

As you mentioned, no doubt about it.

Alright, coach moore, always pleasure to have you on with us.

Thank you for your time.

Good luck this season.

Thank you, bill.

We should appreciate you, man.

What you do for high
