More than 11-hundred cases were added there within the past 14-days.

That brings the total number of cases in the region to more than 58-hundred.

So far -- so good.

Parents and staff called the return to school in jackson county a success.

And while people admitted a few bumps in the road the first day, they told waay 31's grace campbell students took it all in stride.

"it's been a great morning, our kids are excited to be back together.

Our teachers all week have been excited to be back with each other."

North jackson high school principal josh redding called the first day back a success.

"all this is new to all of us.

There's no blueprint and i told our kids that this morning" that blueprint includes social distancing, wearing masks and temperature checks for students.

"i did tell them that if these are the rules we're given, we're going to do our best going by the rules.

" doing their best meant a little bit of patience when victoria bell, parent: "as long as they keep the schools clean and keep like the six feet apart and have the kids learn that, i think it'll be just fine, and keep hand sanitizer going everything will be alright."

On the other side of jackson county, at hollywood elementary, parents such as victoria bell hoped for the best when it came to her son and his classmates keeping their mask on all day.

"the whole thing of like kids and if he was going to have to wear a mask and keep it on because you know kids, they're not going to keep it on.

So far he seems fine.

We will see how the whole process goes with this."
