A local woman and her family are rejoicing after she won her nearly 2-month battle with the coronavirus.

She spent over 50 days fighting the coronavirus.

She spent nearly a month in rehab.

Now, she's finally home.

W-t-v-a's bronson woodruff introduces us to innie pearl carter and shares her story of recovery... this is the north mississippi medical center in tupelo where innie pearl carter was hospitalized during her battle with the coronavirus.

Now, the seventy-five year-old survivor's family is excited to welcome her home.

She lives in ackerman, and is thrilled to have beaten the coronavirus after a fifty- four day fight.

Her daughter belevia carter said the journey took a lot of trusting.

"we didn't know what to think.

All we could do was trust him."

They said their strong faith played a big part in the journey... "everytime they gave us a no, god gave us a yes."

Belivia carter offered encouragement to anyone dealing with the virus.

"an answer to everybody who's out there dealing with this covid, don't give up, fight.

Fight.

Trust god.

In everything you do, you gotta trust him, and that's what we done, we trusted god, and he worked it out."

She wants to thank all the medical professionals who helped carter recover.

"it couldn't have happened without, first of all, god, but without you anticipating in it, it wouldn't have happened."

Aside from faith, she said there is another important aspect.... "without family, there is nothing.

You always gotta have family support."

Today was her last day.
