Guests and zookepers were amazed when the five animals that just gave birth at the Khon Kaen Zoo in the northeast of the country went out with their newborns on August 12.

Five adorable animals including the Ankole-Watusi calf, baby Lemur, two albino wallabies, and a common squirrel monkey, were seen with their mothers.

Thanachon Kenasing, director of the zoo, said they organised the mother and baby animal event to mark Mother's Day in Thailand.

He said: ''All of our staff are glad that the animals are healthy and strong.

Vets will watch them closely while staying with their mothers." Thanachon added that two female zoo officers are pregnant who will be giving birth around the end of the year which adds to the celebration.

The Thai National Mother's Day is celebrated on the birthday of Her Majesty Queen Sirikit and the entire country immerses in celebrations as the queen is regarded as mother of all Thai people.
