Marcie Steel remembers the day teachers got the email that they were to pack up and teach virtually.

With the beginning of the school year fast approaching, and for some; just beginning she knew there had to be a way to protect students from the virus and make them feel safe.

So, she created the Barrier Buddies.

It is plastic shielding that goes around each student’s desk and gives them an extra layer of protection in addition to their masks.

And for the younger kids who may need mask breaks, it gives them a place to take that break and still be protected.
