Thanksgiving looked completely different across America due to COVID-19 restrictions.

The Five Star Residence of Fort Wayne went above and beyond for the residents by throwing a thanksgiving celebration.

Thanksgiving looked completely different across america due to covid-19 restrictions... including senior living centers here in fort wayne.fox 55's brianna dahlquist spoke with residents at one facility to take a look at the holidays for fort wayne's most vulnerable.

3 being away from her family because of this pandemic has proved to be hard on janice coppock.

Coppock says shes glad that she has a home away from home for the holidays.

"i just like it here, it feels like home to me."executive director at five star residence of fort wayne, rosina thatcher knows that thanksgiving is a time for gathering and eating delicious foods.

"none of our residents will miss turkey, pecan, or pumpkin pie!"

Jeff jones, the dietary specialist and chef at five star says he whipped up the perfect combination for holiday cheer.

"we've got ham that's baked with a raisin glaze, we also have mashed potatoes and dressing, cranberries, and salad.

We always have our greens which is the salad of the day and fresh fruit."

Thatcher says putting on the thanksgiving they did wouldn't be possible without her dedicated staff.

"they don't replace the family that's at home but they give exceptional care and go above and beyond."

Although most residents can't physically see their families, kayla abbott with activities had a sweet surprise for each and every resident.

"i've gotten in contact with their families and asked them to send me pictures.

Any new pictures, or some of their favorites or family at home.

Picture of their kids and grandkids!"abbot says she even took the time to get picture of their pets to put in a slideshow and put a smile on their faces.coppock says she misses her family dearly but is hopeful for a future without the covid-19 virus.
