State Police tell NEWSChannel 2 the search for a man believed to have fallen in the West Canada Creek, has been called off for the night as of 8:30 p.m Saturday.

The day searching the west canada creek after they tell us an elderly man is believed to have fallen in.

We checked in with police earlier this evening.

They say they called off the search when the sun went down... and will resume their efforts in the morning.

The search is centered around the newport area.

This is a look at the area police are searching from a helicopter that was on-scene today.

We first reported the search friday night at six.

The search has been going on since then.

Police have brought in a k-9 unit, and underwater response team... a sort team.

Still-- nothing.

Fire department, state d-e-c and oriskany water were searching just east of the west canada creek fishing access site.

Again-- this is an ongoing search..

Police tell us they called off the search tonight when it got dark.

They will continue their search tomorrow.
