Local woman creates steam kits for students to create at home

A way to give kids a fun learning activity.

Steam kits.

A cool way to introduce science and engineering to students - who are now stuck at home due to the coronavirus pandemic - are available for free all thanks to a local woman and her bag of tricks.

Richelle maki, chhief adult in charge at steamworks ability lab, has found a way to enrich oung students with "boredom buster" steam kits.

Richelle: catapults like this kit made out of every day objects: a plastic spoon, clothes pins and craft stick.

Each kit incudes, the mateiral to build the project and detailed instructions typed out by richelle with her contact information at the bottom for parents or students to call if they have questions.

And where can you find them?

Richelle: richelle who makes about 100 kits per week pays for this out of pocket using her avings account.

She has set up a gofundme so that she can continue to make kits.

Richelle: people who hvae learned to think outside the box, people who are problem solvers.

Richelle also has close family members who are working on the front lines fighting the coronavirus around the country.

Her sister is sewing over 600 masks for healthcare professionals.
