WAAY 31's Marie Waxel and Pat Simon talks with Madison Mayor Paul Finley about how local leaders are preparing for a potential upswing in Coronavirus cases

To campus in the fall.

It's now been just over two weeks since the memorial day holiday.

Local officials have voiced concerns as more and more people are getting out and about.

How are our local leaders preparing for that?

And also - given recent protests in the area - where people came into close contact with one another, are there additional concerns in the days to come?

Joining us now is madicon city mayor paul finley?

Mayor - good morning there is a slight uptick in some of the hospitalizations in our area.

Hospital officials say it's manageable.

You get updates every day.

How do you see things this morning?

Mayor battle mentioned monday about surrounding counties seeing an increase or high amount of positive cases like morgan, cullman and marshall.

Are you concerned about those permeating the madison county area?

Any concerns about the number of people who attended recent protests being so close to one another that we may see additional cases from that?

Mayor - during protests a few days ago, family members of dana fletcher, the man shot and killed by madison police officers last year, are again calling for the police body cam video to be released.

- now that the d-a ruled the shooting justified, should that video be released to the public?

Would you support any proposed legislation requiring body cam legislation to be available to the public?

The madison county commission will meet to discuss removing a confederate monument from the outside the madison county courthouse.

What's your opinion about that?
