Henderson County High School Releases Fall Sports Attendance Plan

Henderson County High School has released a fall sports attendance plan that implements new rules and procedures for spectators in an effort to keep everyone as safe as possible amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

Back to our big story of the night - the play-book-- to allow kentucky high school teams to return to action is now in place for henderson county-- this season the expected changes -- include masks and social distancing.

But one rule - could force some families to miss out on the biggest games of 20-20.

From - tennis to soccer - and even football ---- district officials are putting a cap the venue capacity.

Chief western kentucky bureau reporter - erran huber takes a look at how many tickets - will be sold -- for henderson county fans.

"i would like to go again, see some more games."

It's fun, you get to see how much they enjoy it.

So, it's a good time to get to do it with some friends.

Though treva onan's nephew has graduated-- and moved on from his time with the team.

She still remains--a henderson football fan-- like she has been for years.

And she says-- she'll be glad when the next generation of the team--is able to take the field this upcoming friday.

"as long as you do the distancing thing, you should be alright.

Wear your mask."

That's the game plan--for colonels fans.

Sports--still moving forward-- though things will look and feel a little different--for those in the stands under the friday night lights.

New procedures--for all of henderson county's sports venues.

Like most places these days-- masks and social distancing are the standard.

But capacity locked down to 800-- of that -- only 300 tickets will be set aside for families of players and coaches.

And with another 140 set aside for the visiting fans.

That leaves -- a little more than 300 for -- the general public -- looking to cheer on the boys in maroon.

That may not seem like a lot but to put it in perspective --- in total -- e-v-s-c is only allowing 5- hundred in the stands.

The season moving forward-- but not exactly with full support from frankfort.

Monday's announcement-- comes in the wake of words from governor beshear.

With him sharing just a couple weeks ago--he wanted to leave the sports decision to the local level--but districts choosing to move forward-- is something he still couldn't back.

"at some point, it can't be 'every single decision comes to the governor, and the governor decides.'" if we're truly going to beat this virus, we've got to have people throughout kentucky making responsible good decisions for people around them.

Responsible decisions by school districts, schools, coaches and parents.

And parents.

Right now, my son is not going to play a high contact sport.

Based on what i know, that's going to be my decision as a parent."

The kentucky snap -- comes -- as other districts - teams -and athletes across the country -- sit on the bench until next spring.

Changes are also in place for volleyball and soccer at the colonel gym and soccer stadium.

We'll have full details on the approach there-- on our website wevv dot com.
