Former President Donald Trump has been barred from appearing on the Illinois Republican presidential primary ballot by a state judge.
Cook County Circuit Judge Tracie Porter made the ruling on Wednesday, citing Trump's role in the January 6, 2021, insurrection at the US Capitol.
The judge sided with Illinois voters who argued that the former president violated the anti-insurrection clause of the US Constitution's 14th Amendment, thus disqualifying him from the state's upcoming primary and general elections.
