SCREEN WITH TOURNAMENT BRACKET ANNOUNCING CARLSEN AS THE WINNER STORY: Magnus Carlsen once again proved he is the world's top chess player with a win Sunday (May 3) in his Magnus Carlsen Invitational tournament.

The final proved a back and forth affair but the world champ eventually defeated American speed player Hikaru Nakamura by a score of 2.5 to 1.5.

Carlsen appeared to have the match in hand after winning the opening game but Nakamura battled back in game two to take his own win and even the score.

The third match saw Carlsen go on an offensive that Nakamura couldn't hold off and the Norwegian went back ahead 2 to 1 and needed only a draw in game four to clinch his victory.

Carlsen collected $70,000 for the win as top level chess went online for the first time due to the coronavirus pandemic.
