In-person classes began Monday, and the college has several safety measures to help prevent the spread of the coronavirus.

At itawamba community college for the first day of their first fall semester during the coronavirus pandemic.

Wtvas chelsea brown is live in fulton with a look at how the college plans to keeps students safe.

Faculty, staff and students came together today for their first day of in-person classes.

And it didn't seem to stem the excitement of one student, who told me she's glad to be back on campus.

Anna wesleigh driskell- icc sophomore "i was really excited to come back.

I did miss it.

So its really nice, i'm happy to be here."

Anna driskell is an icc sophomore and a soccer player.

She is adapting to the new procedures at the college.

"it will definitively be different just because i won't be in class every single day and i'll have more online stuff than i did last year."

I-c-c president jay allen said masks are mandatory for anyone on campus.

And staff members physically distanced all of the furniture.

"they are adapting to our new was of instructional methods quite well."

"distancing part is not to bad, everything is marked clearly."

Class types include traditional class, a hybrid of traditional and zoom meetings, a hyprid of tratiional and online work, and the college still offers only online classes.

"faculty, one of them told me it's the first time they have been nervous in a number of years on the first day of classes."

The president added even though students and staff must socially distance, he still wants students to be involved in activities around campus.

"the next challenge is making sure our students have a tremendous student life."

Driskell is looking forward to attending school sporting events but she knows they will look much different this year because of the coronavirus.
